Heartby Rachel
A young woman, Madison, is enjoying a night out with friends at a local bar. She sees her ex-boyfriend, Kurt, watching her; she panics and runs off. The next day at work, she discovers her boss dead in his office, his body is torn to pieces.
At a morgue, Sam (posing as a detective) investigates the body, discovering that his heart was missing and he appeared to have been attacked by a wolf.
In their hotel room Sam and Dean discuss the case - several women and now one man have been killed over the past few months. As the murders occurred during the weeks leading up to a full moon, they realise that a werewolf is in town - something Dean is very excited about as they haven't seen one since they were kids.
They talk to Madison and meet her neighbour, Glen to find out more about the man. They discover that Kurt had been stalking Madison and was jealous of her friendship with her boss. The boys decide to look a little deeper. While they are checking out Kurts apartment, a cop is attacked outside - with wounds that look like a wolf again. The conclude that Kurt is the werewolf, or as Dean puts it "I'd say Kurt's looking more and more like our Cujo."
Worried for her safety, they go back to Madison's apartment. Sam and Dean play "rock, paper, scissors" to decide which of them stays with her, Sam wins because he knows Dean always picks "scissors", so Dean heads out to look for Kurt. Sam stays with Madison but is clearly uncomfortable - something that Madison notices and winds him up about. They end up sitting together on the sofa watching soap operas and chatting about her relationship with Kurt. She tells Sam that she was mugged a month earlier and used that as an excuse to rebuild her life. Whiel they are enjoying the soap, Dean calls He says he found Kirt and that he’s definitely got his eyes glued. However he’s at a strip club at the front of the stage handing a hot chick a buck. Eventually, Madison heads off to bed, while Sam watches some more TV.
Dean has been following Kurt for a few hours when he hears breaking glass in Kurt's apartment. He goes up to investigate and finds Madison, who has turned into a werewolf, attacking Kurt. She sees him and knocks him out.
When he awakes he phones Sam, who doesn't believe him until Dean says she should have a cut on her arm. When he goes through she is waking up; Sam sees the cut on her arm. He realises that it's true and locks himself and Madison in her apartment. She tries to convince him that she's not a werewolf. Dean and Sam suspect that she just doesn't know that she is changing ("Like a really hot Incredible Hulk?"). Rather than kill her, Sam wants to try to cure her - he wants to find the werewolf that bit her. It turns out that the mugger that attacked her had also bitten her and infected her. Sam agrees to stay with Madison in case she changes while Dean goes to look for the other werewolf.
A blonde woman is walking slowly down the street. She hears a howl nearby and starts to run. The werewolf attacks her, but Dean arrives before he can kill her, firing three rounds at the werewolf’s heart. The blonde scrambles up and frightened, runs away. Looking at the werewolf, Dean realizes it was Glen, Madison’s neighbour.
Meanwhile at the apartment, Madison has turned into a werewolf and frees herself from the chair but Sam manages to lock her in the closet. He lets her out at sunrise and says it should be over and that she’ll never see him again then he walks out. Looking at the walls in the closet with all the scratch marks, Madison realizes that Sam and Dean were telling the truth.
Madison finds the boys waiting outside her apartment, hoping that she doesn't turn again. She invites them in and they all wait together.When the sun rises and she still hasn't turned, they all relax. Dean leaves, while Madison and Sam give in to the attraction between them. Unfortunately, Sam wakes up during the night and Madison has turned again. She hisses at Sam and runs out the window. Sam quickly gets dressed and runs back to the motel to tell Dean that she’s turned again. Dean says they’ll find her. Dean suspects that she only turns when she is asleep. He tries to convince Sam that there is no other way - they need to kill her.
When Madison calls Sam in tears, they pick her up and she wonders what she did during the night. Dean confesses to her that there is no cure for her. She accepts the fact and as she doesn't want to hurt anyone else, asks Sam to kill her. He refuses, unwilling to say goodbye to another person he has feelings for. She begs him to do it and save her but he still refuses and leaves the room. Dean follows and they talk about it. Dean offers to be the one to kill her, but Sam accepts that he needs to do it - she asked him.
Samis in tears as he comprehends what he has to do. Dean goves him his gun and he walks out of the kitchen to Madison.
We watch Dean's face as a single tear runs down his cheek. He fliches as we hear a gunshot coming from the other room.
