Sam has his cellphone registered to the name Wedge Antilles. He was one of the X-Wing pilots that flies alongside Luke Skywalker to destroy the Death Star in the movie Star Wars.
The title of the episode refers to Lazarus of Bethany, a character in the Christian Bible. One of the miracles that Jesus was recounted to have performed was the raising of Lazarus from the dead.
Four months have passed since Dean was killed at the end of No Rest for the Wicked. The date on the newspaper (The Pontiac Daily Gazette) Dean looks at is the 18th September 2008 - the same day this episode first aired.
Sam has been wearing Dean's amulet and gives it back to him.
We find out that Bobby's full name is Robert Steven Singer.
