SYNOPSIS
Evening. A guy in the suburbs is taking out his garbage, stopping momentarily to look at his neighbour's new car (he has an old model). Suddenly his garbage cans begin to shake and the lights flicker. An ominous cloud rolls in, and trails of dark cloud stuff separate and writhe in a swarm. One comes down and enters the guys mouth. He gets up; he has black eyes, he's possessed. He looks out over the city as the tendrils of black clouds slither towards the skyline.

Cut to one week later. Sam is researching a section of a book called “Devil at the Crossroads.” He is obviously trying to figure out how to get Dean out of the deal. Dean, meanwhile, is entertaining ladies to BTO's “Ain't Seen Nothing Yet” in a motel room nearby. Bobby calls Sam, he has found something. Sam rushes to fetch Dean and sees more than he bargained for!

The brothers hit the road. Sam tells Dean that Bobby has found an unexpected bug storm. Clouds like the one from the beginning have apparently appeared over 17 different towns. Dean and Sam wonder what the demons are waiting for. Dean comments he wishes the war would just begin, Sam reminds him to be careful what he wishes for.

The boys meet up with Bobby at a farm house and force their way in. They recoil immediately from a stench emanating from within, and cautiously proceed with guns drawn.

They find a deceased family sitting on a couch with the TV on. They seem to have died suddenly. They hear noises outside and run into a duo of hunters who take the Dean down with ease. Bobby recognizes them as Isaac and Tamara. Later they kill time waiting to hear the cause of death and it turns out that the family died of starvation. The new hunters refuse to allow Sam and Dean to join them in their investigation; it seems their reputations for opening the Devil's Gate precede them. As everybody leaves, a blonde haired girl approaches out of the shadows; she seems to be watching the house.

The now possessed man is in a shoe store. He apporaches a lady and indicates a pair of shoes another customer is buying. The woman walks up to the other one and asks for the shoes. She says she is buying the last pair. Outside the woman smashes her face into a windshield and grabs the shoes.

The boys show up to investigate. Dean is "comforting the bereaved" lady. Bobby (dressed in a suit!) has pretended to be with the DA's office and has determined that the girl was not possessed; there are no signs of this. Dean spots a security camera. They find security footage of the guy giving a suggestion to the lady.

Sam goes out on the street and is followed by the blonde girl. He senses he is being followed, but when he turns around there is no-one there.

The boys and Bobby are staking out a bar waiting for Mr. Possessed. They see him go in and on Bobby's advice decide to wait, however Isaac and Tamara show up and go in.

Inside, Isaac and Tamara order drinks and sit at a table. Isaac has a hip flask of holy water. Mr Possessed buys a beer then heads for the toilet. Isaac goes to follow but is confronted by a bald guy, who is the owner of the bar and is possessed also. Then it becomes apparent that everyone in the bar is possessed.

Sam and Dean try to break the door down. A demon comes up to Isaac and forces him to drink drain cleaner. The demons have a good laugh about this, but the boys bust in with Bobby's car and save Tamara. Dean splashes some holy water around and gets Mr Possessed in the boot of the car.

Back at Tamara and Isaac's house, they try to figure out what to do. Bobby has worked out they are up against the seven deadly sins incarnate.

Mr Possessed, who we now know is Envy, is tied to a chair in a Devils Trap and seems amused by the boys. He tells them that his kind is everywhere and humans are no better than them, in fact the demons definitely feel they have the upper hand. Tamara expels Envy while the guys realize that the remaining sin-demons will now be hunting them.

Later, everyone is preparing for battle. Isaac appears, trying to convice Tamara to let him in, but she refuses. She is lured out in anger, though, when he talks about their child's death. Driving a stake through Isaac's heart, she "kills" him, but she has broken the protective salt line and the other demons can enter, which they do.

Bobby is confronted with Sloth, while Dean has a confrontation with his favorite sin, Lust. Sam, meanwhile, meets up with Pride, who manages to avoid another Devils Trap.

Pride knows Sam's ‘legend,' but isn't very impressed with him. Meanwhile, after a rather long kiss, Dean dunks Lust in a bath-tub filled with holy water. Back with Sam, Pride and gang are getting the better of Sam until blonde girl appears and disposes of the demons with a dagger. She leaves without explaining who she is, other than the girl who saved Sam's ass.

Next morning, Sam and Dean are burying and salting the corpses of the dead. They ponder who the mysterious girl may have been, what the knife is and what else may have slipped out of the Devils Gate. They see Tamara off and then Bobby, reminding each other to watch out for Omens.

The brothers try to figure out where to go next. Sam is a little upset that Dean doesn't want to get out of the deal. Dean explains that if they trick the crossroads demon, Sam dies. He says he's got a year left, he wants to kill as many evil SOB's as he can and raise a little hell himself. Sam can't really respond to that, so they climb in the Impala and drive away.
